ABOUT US

Reezy Nation is comprised of five individuals spread across the United States. Our friendships formed because of swimming and continue to grow stronger with each passing year. We each have our ‘favorite’ swimmers but agree that Ryan possess the free spirit and big hearted nature we wish more people had. We blog and follow swimming for the fun and patriotism of it all.

Indianapolis Grand Prix Results
Sunday, March 6, 2011 @ 7:44 PM

This weekend Ryan swam in the fourth Grand Prix of the season held at IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis. Ryan had a tough schedule this weekend competing in seven events with doubles Thursday and Friday night and a TRIPLE on Saturday night. As usual he swam unshaven in his signature “banana hammocks” ranging in color and design. Ryan also debuted a new swim cap featuring his smiling face printed on the side, grillz in place. We hope the new cap becomes a staple of this season, much like the ‘Martian’ shoes we’ve become so fond of. He seemed to be a bit on the tired side racing B finals in most events but given that it's early in the season and Ryan holds a very tough training schedule we're not worried.

His event times and placements were as follows:
200 Free: 1:49.41 (fourth)
100 Fly (B final): 53.68 (fourth)
50 Free (B final): 23.39 (13th place)
100 Back: 54.08 (tied with Matt Grevers in 1st place and also fastest time in the world this year.)
200 IM: 1:59.19 (second to Phelps who finished 1:56.88)
200 Back: 1:57.63 (first place)
100 Free (B final): 50.78 (fourth)

Day 1 Finals

Day 2 Finals (Ryan at the 6:18 mark)

Day 3 Finals (Ryan at the 4:30 mark)

Ryan's favorite things

The Grand Prix are always good at allowing swimmers to gage where they are competitively in any given season and there were certainly some surprising results. With that being said we’re very exited to see what times Ryan can produce leading up to the London Olympics. 2011 seems like its going to be a big year for Team USA, especially with the apparent return of a newly dedicated Michael Phelps who posted some highly impressive times. It looks like Ryan has a great road ahead of him and we’d be lying if we said we weren’t extremely excited to see Michael and Ryan competing against each other for the remainder of the season.

Congratulations to all the participants this weekend!

The next Grand Prix will be held in Ann Arbor, Michigan from April 8th through the 10th.
